Callahan's Journal

Callahan ate half of cream of wheat cereal and ate dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch he ate chicken, a few bites of brown rice, most of broccoli, and ate pineapple. First picture:  Little Yoda boy.  So cute!!  He's looking at Atley and Nora as they're getting ready to come in too.  Those are the only kids here today, Nora's leaving at noon, so it's pretty quiet and slow around here.  Especially when 6 kids are the norm!!   Next picture;  Cal plays with the tractors in this toy set a lot.  There are little trailers that hook to the legos tractors and he's always bringing one to me to hook back up.  Following picture;  Lauralea covered for me for a few minutes while I was outside attending to a metal delivery for the garage.  Lauralea and the kids had arranged the barnyard and Cal had provided all the corral pieces.   Next picture:  Atley and Nora had constructed this block wall and when Atley was satisfied with the...

Callahan ate a couple bites of waffles and ate a large serving of fruit salad for breakfast.  For lunch he ate turkey burger, whole wheat tortillas, a couple bites of sweet potatoes, and ate cherries.  At breakfast while Cal and Miles were still in their highchairs side-by-side Miles started saying, "Dada, dada, dada..."  So Cal started to mimic him saying the same thing.  Then Miles kept saying it and started waving as well.  So now Cal is also waving and they're both saying, "Dada, dada dada..."  Cuties.   This first note is left over from yesterday afternoon when Svea told me; "Gary, Cal is my best friend.  I wish I could take him home."  Haha.  (Like a pet.)  Avi and Svea are not here today so I haven't had a chance to put that in her Blog yet.   Well I have 5 pictures and 4 of the pictures are basically centered around the swivel/rocker chair.  It's kind of like the mattress in the fact the kids never get tired of it....

Callahan ate French toast and ate strawberries for breakfast.  For lunch he ate a large serving of Whole 30 Chili with meat, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, tomato sauce, and lots of spices.  He ate whole wheat dinner roll and ate tropical fruit.   I've been sitting in the swivel/rocker in FRONT of the couch to do Story Time lately.  And that's been working really well especially for Callahan.  It was tight on the couch with 5 kids and me; Cal on my lap. He apparently didn't like that arrangement and never lasted more than 1 or maybe 2 books.  I've done it that way forever and I never thought someone may not like it!!  Haha.  Anyhow, changing the seating arrangement totally changed everything for Cal and he's sat for all of Story Time since we switched it up! A couple pictures of Cal having fun this morning.  He was trying to "eat" whatever was in the bowl and so I'm just assuming he's learning these manners from home!!  Haha.  (...

I've gotten a couple of questions about Program closure dates for the Holidays ahead.  So here's a reminder of those dates:          November 26 & 27     Thanksgiving      December 24 & 25.    Christmas Also , A reminder for closure dates in  January 2021.        January 1       January 4th - 8th. Callahan ate whole wheat Chex cereal and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch he ate hamburger, whole wheat hamburger bun, avocado, taste of tomatoes, and ate mandarin oranges.     We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and like always the kids were busy as could be. Svea came just before lunch, but she verbalized it this way; "Why do you have all these different toys Gary?!? I've never seen them!!"  Haha.  (It's been 16 weeks since these toys were out.)  So maybe that's the way it is for kids her age and younger.  They certainly play like they've never seen them before!!  First picture; Miles and Callahan with the phones; Miles was holding it up to his ear jabbering. Callahan ate bites of oatmeal and one dried cranberry for breakfast.  For lunch he ate tilapia, ate whole wheat elbow noodles, green beans, and applesauce.   Svea said to me; "Cal is NOT listening to my words!"  Oh really, what did you say to him?  "I don't want him pestering me!"  LOL  It's probably not real professional to laugh at what they say when they are SO serious, but sometimes they are so dang funny.  And that was funny.  Haha.  Ok, I'll remind him to listen to you Svea!!   Most of Cal's pictures are left over from yesterday afternoon.  This first picture he was trying to get the shorts on over his head so I decided I better help him!!  Haha.  Second picture;  I mostly like this picture because I rarely get all 6 kids in a picture at the same time.  (Unless I arrange it!!)  So every time it happens I post a picture and say the same thing.  Haha.   This next picture was also yesterday afte...

Callahan ate blueberry bagel and ate peaches for breakfast.  For lunch he ate a large serving of hamburger and sausage pizza, with whole wheat pizza crust, tomato sauce, peppers, pineapple, and olives.  He also ate pineapple on the side.    First picture:  Cal had a toy in his hand on was trying to lay it on the piece of trim across the wall.  Miles was there to support his buddy.  :)  I don't usually let them stand on the couch because they will start jumping and there happens to be a mattress just for that.  However, it was pretty cute how they were up there side-by-side.   We started a segment for the Preschool kids on Thursday morning called "Science with Lauralea."  I took these next two pictures while Lauralea was doing her experiments with the kids.  There was observation and some participation, but Cal is a bit too young for it.  So I was hanging out with Miles and Callahan.  I like this next picture how Cal i...

Callahan ate half of whole wheat toast and ate his grapes for breakfast.  For lunch he ate pork roast, whole wheat tortillas, taste of carrots, and ate fruit salad.  This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon after snack.  Avilene was doing an art picture - drawing and using stickers.  And she wanted Cal to watch her.  The stickers are shapes so she was quizzing Cal on his shapes.  Haha.  "Is this a square or a rectangle?"  Cal would say whatever was the last thing she'd said.  She was thrilled when he'd get it right and appalled when he'd get it wrong.  Haha.  When I took this picture he was ready to leave and she was trying to coax him into staying longer.  She said, "Hey Cal, I can crunch stuff up into a ball."  LOL!  That will do it Avi; dazzle him with your tricks. Callahan ate whole wheat English muffin and dried plums for breakfast.  For lunch he ate chicken with stir fry vegetables, bites of brown rice, and ate mandarin oranges.    I was getting a kick out of Cal yelling at "Alexa."  The "Alexa" part was very clear and easy to understand; the rest of his yelling; not so clear.  Haha.  Alexa didn't have a clue what he was saying and neither did I.   This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon.  I'm posting an identical one on Miles' Blog, except it's of Miles of course.  First, one of them would take the "top bunk" and then the other one would crawl up there.  Cal was rocking the chair like crazy!!  I have to watch closely because he/they can easily tip it over if they get too crazy on it.  It doesn't happen too often, but it's happened a couple of times.  Cal was getting the back off the floor on this episode.  :) Last picture;  Miles was under the blue bala...

Callahan ate some cheerios and some banana for breakfast.  For lunch he ate ground beef, bites of whole wheat pita bread, bite of olives, ate avocado (mixed with his ground beef), and ate mixed fruit.   First picture:  Svea and Nora were building their "hideout" in the cozy corner this morning.  Nora started recruiting Cal to do all the heavy work for them before Cal was even out of his breakfast highchair. "Hey Cal, when you're done eating will you bring all the animals over to the cozy corner?"  Haha.  That made me laugh.  You can see in the first picture he's still at work packing blocks for them as well.   Next picture:  After they abandoned the cozy corner they moved it to the igloo.  Nora and Svea were in and out of the igloo hauling all the soft pillows, blankets, and dress-up toys they could find.  There wasn't much room in there and Cal was in the back and pretty much hidden from view.  I heard Svea ask Cal, "Are you o...

Callahan ate brown rice and a couple of raisins for breakfast.  For lunch he ate meatloaf, ate whole wheat dinner roll, bites of riced cauliflower, and ate his mangoes.    First picture;  Miles was bonking on the mirror with the yellow banana toy.  Cal crawled up there, took the toy and proceeded to bonk on the mirror.  So I had him give it back to Miles (who, by the way, did not protest at all when Cal took it) and go get another one.  And that's exactly what Cal did; crawled down, found an identical banana toy and went right back to bonking with his buddy.  Good work Cal.   Next picture:  Svea and Nora were playing on (and under) the balance beam.  Svea was laying on top completely covered with a blanket.  Except her toes were sticking out; you can see them directly in front of Cal's forehead.  So (with some encouragement from Gary - ha) Cal was saying, "tickle tickle."  :) Last picture:  Avi is showing Cal her...

Callahan ate a couple bites of whole wheat cinnamon/raisin muffin and ate mandarin oranges for breakfast.  For lunch he ate salmon, no whole wheat elbow noodles, ate peas, and ate applesauce.   First picture:  Cal is standing on the dress-up clothes rack peeking over the top of the changing table at Svea; trying to see what she is up to.  That's way more fun than simply walking around the corner.  Ha!! Second picture:  Well I've mentioned in the Blogs once or twice, but especially to the parents how these two stinkers like to push each other's buttons!!  So I need to balance that out by saying they really do like (maybe love - haha) each other and frequently play together.  It's probably 50/50 as to which one starts antagonizing the other one!!  They were playing with the trucks together in the picture.  Probably within 30 seconds of taking this picture Svea grabbed a truck out of Cal's hands.  Sigh....Haha! Callahan ate French toast and three servings of watermelon for breakfast.  For lunch he ate half of Hearty Paleo Stew with meat, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potatoes, green beans, carrots, and tomatoes.  He ate saltines, and tropical fruit.  I think this first picture is really cute.  And in case you're wondering, yes I'm now running the Daycare military style and Callahan is learning to salute.  Haha.  (That's a joke!  Hey with the political climate so weird in this country I decided to be safe and put in a disclaimer.  It's just a joke people!! Haha.)  Isn't this a cute picture!? Second picture:  I primarily took this picture so the Hansen family could see that Miles always waves enthusiastically at the window BEFORE they get there; he's usually done waving by the time they arrive.  Haha.  Callahan, along with Nora, is showing Miles how it's done.  It cracks me up because they (up to about Cal's age) ALWAYS wave the mom...

Callahan ate a couple bites of waffle and ate three servings of grapes for breakfast.  For lunch he ate baked cinnamon apples.  No chicken, tortillas, or corn. These first two pictures are left over from yesterday afternoon.  If you look closely across the street you can see the back end of a boat and the motor.  The neighbor was winterizing his boat.  When I took the picture he was running the motor - a loud idling two-cycle engine - but he never throttled it above an idle. Callahan was totally enthralled.  Svea, on the other hand, was telling him how loud it is and it's time to run!!  Haha.  Second picture:  Nora, Cal, and Svea were looking for bugs and said they spotted a "bee."  Notice how Nora is positioned - and that was as close as she wanted to get.
