Callahan's Journal

Callahan looked at his brown rice and raisins for breakfast and said, "I'm not eating." Ha. For lunch he ate salmon, whole wheat dinner roll, no cauliflower, and ate mangoes.  So before Lunch the kids were asking "what we gonna have?" I told them and then asked, "Does anyone know what is a  salmon ?" Their answers were hilarious and all different. Svea: "From a horse." Ewww... ..no. Cal; "A vegetable." No. Miles; "A strawberry." Haha. Nope. So when I told them a "fish" they claimed to already know that of course. LOL. First picture: This doesn't look real comfortable to me, but Cal was using one leg to propel him and the chair around and around. Miles asked, "Where you going?" LOL. Cal said, "To my house." Then a long discussion ensued about where Cal's house might be located. :) Next picture; Svea applying some make-up she brought in her surprise bag from home. She asked the boys, ...

Callahan ate most of his toasted whole wheat English muffin and ate mandarin oranges for breakfast. For lunch he ate ground beef, bites of whole wheat elbow noodles, ate peas, and applesauce. I combed Miles' hair this morning and Cal said, "Now he looks like Nora." Wow, good observation Cal. I agree.  First picture: The boys being silly and acting like little boys. :) Love these two guys. Second picture: The boys having fun in the cozy corner. Initially they were "hiding" from me. Then Miles closed his eyes and said, "Good night Cal." Cal said, "See you in the morning." :) Next picture: Svea was showing Cal the goodies she brought from home today and this microscope was a special one. Svea said, "I have something in here that can talk to you Cal." And sure enough, it could. Next picture: We had fun outside this morning. Callahan ate French toast and Strawberries mixed together for breakfast. For lunch he ate Hearty Paleo Stew with meat, green beans, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, and peppers. He ate two servings of saltines, and ate mangoes. First picture: I took this shortly after the boys waved bye to Momma Emily. Both of them were in a great mood and they even wanted to work on the same puzzles!! This is good practice for Social Skills because ya know there's gonna be some conflict!! Ha. Actually they did 3 or 4 puzzles together and finished them all. Good work boys. Second picture: So they went from Puzzles to looking at Preschool books. Callahan ate no waffle and ate bites of grapes for breakfast. For lunch he ate bites of chicken, ate whole wheat tortilla, corn, and ate his apples slices. This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon. Miles is getting a bit too big for the pink pajamas I've been putting him in, so these are his "new" PJ's. Only  ONE  problem; Cal used to wear these! And Miles remembered that. He wasn't very thrilled about the whole idea and it's getting warmer so I'll probably drop the Pajamas anyhow. When I took this picture Cal was explaining to Miles what Miles already knew! Haha. Cal to Miles: "Did you know these were mine when I was a kid?!?" Lol. Earlier, Cal had asked me; "Did you know those used to be my pajamas here?" Me: "Yes I knew that. Did YOU know I was the one who put those PJ's on you every day?" Cal; "Yes." Haha. Callahan ate kix cereal and fruit cocktail for breakfast. For lunch he ate a large serving of ground turkey topped with avocado, ate toasted whole wheat sandwich thin, tomatoes, and ate cherries. I asked Cal; "Were you, Hudson, and Emerson the only kids in your group at the Water Park?" Cal said, "Yes, and Erica." LOL!! I loved that.  First picture: Svea had showed Cal everything in her Morning Bag and it held lots of books. They looked at several of them and then we read them at Story Time. When I took the picture this was the conversation; Svea said, "Which one do you like?" Cal was pointing and said, "I like these over here." She immediately corrected him, "You can only pick one!" Ha. (Which ONE do you like; not ONES.) Boy Cal, you gotta pay close attention so you don't get in trouble with Teacher Svea! Callahan ate several bites of French toast and ate his dried plums for breakfast. In the middle of breakfast Miles said, "I want mangoes." Haha. For lunch Cal ate two servings of pulled pork, ate whole wheat toast, peas, and two servings of strawberries. After Cal was done drinking some water today he said, "I'm gonna drink water every day because it's im-PER-tant for you!" Yes it's very important. :) Cal was doing a puzzle of sea creatures. He started quizzing Lauralea about her "favorites." "What is your favorite Sea Creature?" "What is your favorite Vegetable?" "What is your favorite Puzzle" "What is your favorite Toy?" And more. Callahan ate most of his whole wheat toast and ate mangoes for breakfast. For lunch he ate a large serving of ground beef with marinara sauce on top of a large serving of whole wheat spaghetti noodles, no riced cauliflower, and ate fruit salad. We'd read/sang "Farmer in the Dell" during Story Time and right after Lunch the kids were interchanging words and subjects in the different verses and then laughing their heads off. I thought it was quite hilarious and entertaining as well!! Maybe one of Cal's verses was my favorite: "The Rat takes a Wife, the Rat takes a Wife, Hi-Ho the derry-O, the Rat takes a Wife." Haha. Callahan ate blueberry bagel and two large servings of grapes for breakfast. For lunch he ate shrimp, a large serving of brown rice, ate most of his broccoli, and ate mixed berries. Before breakfast Miles asked me; "Gary, are we having grapes?" (It's a daily question!!) "Yes we are!" Miles said, "Yay!! You  made  grapes!" LOL! Yup, I whipped up a batch of grapes! Then Cal asked, "Gary, are we having crumbs?" Me: "What!?! Crumbs?!?" Cal: "Yes, are we having crumbs?" Me: "What kind of crumbs?" Cal; "Uhhh...yummy crumbs!" LOL. What a goof. Lunch conversation: Svea said to me; "We're pretending this is our airplane and this is the dining room and that is the play room." Ok. She continued; "We're going to California. Callahan ate bran cereal and no raisins for breakfast. For lunch he ate chicken topped with avocado, ate whole wheat pita bread, bites of cucumbers, and ate pears. First picture: We did a toy, book, and puzzle exchange this weekend and the kids were engaged all morning. However, I took this picture shortly after arrival and Svea was still very much into her make-up kit she brought with her. Cal was trying to play with some toys and meanwhile Svea was trying to convince him that he needed her to slather some make-up on his face. Ha!  Next two pictures: Eventually Svea abandoned the make-up bag and focused on Activities in the Play Room. She wanted Cal to play the Lady Bug game with her, but he was more interested in a building activity. So they played side-by-side and that worked fine. Second picture is basically more of the same; Svea was activity building with these and Cal would check in on her progress. Ha. Callahan ate a large serving of cream of wheat cereal and bites of dried plums for breakfast. For lunch he ate his chicken, no brown rice, and no broccoli. He ate a large serving of pineapple. This first picture is left over from yesterday afternoon. This was right after Miles got up from his nap and still wearing some Pajamas. (Daycare assigned in case anyone is wondering!! Ha.) This was a super cute moment when I took this picture. Svea was reading "scary ghost stories" (her words) to the boys. They were written, illustrated, and read by Svea Nelson. Miles had just requested another story and look at Svea's eye; "Are you sure you can handle another scary story!?!" :) Next picture: The kids were using this as an Ice Cream Truck and Miles was their one and only customer. Callahan ate waffle and mango/strawberries for breakfast. For lunch he ate two servings of ground turkey, bites of whole wheat tortilla, ate sweet potatoes, and two servings of cherries.  Callahan basically answered Lauralea and I with the same answer when we asked him basically the same question: "How was the Blippi Show?!!?" Cal said, "Good!" Then the second question; "Did you like Blippi?" Cal said, "No, he didn't give me anything." Haha. That sure made us laugh. I'm assuming some kids must have gotten something and some didn't. Probably depending on seating arrangement. Callahan ate bites of French toast casserole and ate strawberries for breakfast. For lunch he ate some bites of Whole 30 Chili with meat, sweet potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, tomato sauce, and lots of spices. He ate whole wheat dinner roll and a large serving of mango/pineapple mix. Caption for the first picture: " But we WERE playing Gentle !!" (Look at the innocent eyes. Ha. Not.) No you really weren't, so now you have to listen to Gary's little lecture. Haha. "we never hit; remember to play gentle boys!!" And that's about as many words as I string together for this age group. Callahan ate toasted whole wheat English muffin and a large serving of grapes for Breakfast. For Lunch he ate pork roast, whole wheat toast, most of beets, and a large serving of applesauce. Svea arrived about 9:15 and I took this picture about 45 minutes  before  she arrived. Cal said, "Where is Svea?" I said, "I'm not sure." So Cal proceeded to search everywhere for Svea. Miles was standing at the gate repeating over and over; "Svea not here. Svea not here. Svea not here." Haha. ...
